Another New Season, Another New Team Being Built

Finally, something to write about! Peter Reid has joined in with the transfer merry-go-round, and made some "interesting" signings. Whether or not they can take us to the promised land is another matter....

Neil Wood, Stephen Hughes, Eddie Johnson, and Louis Carey have so far joined the CCFC revolution, while Teddy Sheringham (And a cast of 100s) have decided not to. Tim Sherwood is also set to join on August 1st, replacing Steve Staunton as captain. There are rumours that two Spurs players will be joining CCFC soon - one on a season long loan (Supposedly Johnnie Jackson. We can dream....), and one on a permanent basis.

Due to a keeper crisis, Gavin Ward re-joined CCFC for a day, before nipping off to Preston - with Chris Neal swapping the north for the centre of the universe. The experienced keeper CCFC still so badly need is nowhere in site (Again), and at this rate, Steve Ogrozovic could be earning a re-call....

The squad numbers have been announced, and the main opinion amongst CCFC supporters that have offered one is: "Please don't let the first XI named be the first XI!!" Dele Adebola has been given the No. 9 shirt, though a lot of CCFC supporters are still hoping a new target man will be brought in before the start of the new season. As of yet, there has been no explanation as to why Stuart Giddings hasn't been given a squad number, despite currently being our only real option at left-back. Explain?

The pre-season matches are due to start any day now, with the still cash strapped club flying with a low budget airline (Welcome to the real world lads!!), and supposedly staying in modest accomodation too (Had they been playing Altenburg, I might have been able to help....!!). Possibly in a bid to save money, Peter Reid has also said he will stay off the drink while the team are out there....

Meanwhile, the decision on the future of the "paper" version of `Cov City Til I Die! Fanzine' is due to be made very soon. Should there be an influx of new subscribers, the reasons behind the possible ending of said version could become irrelevant!
