Burton leaves Pompey

Deon Burton has returned to Derby County after his month loan spell at Portsmouth but a permanent move looks to be on hold after the striker sustained a broken bone in his right foot.

Burton's loan spell brought 3 goals for the South Coast club and manager Harry Redkanpp was keen to see Burton become a full-time fixture at Fratton Park.

It is not known if Redknapp will return for Burton once his injury has healed but a club spokesperson gave nothing away. "Burton has gone back to Derby.

"His loan had expired anyway and he's now got a broken bone in his foot, so he's returned to Pride Park."
