Sheffield United have been hit with a £10,000 fine following the events at the 'Battle of Bramall Lane' with West Brom in March.

The game, in March, was abandonned by referee, Eddie Wolstenhome, as Sheff Utd were reduced to 6 men following red cards to George Santos, Simon Tracy and Patrick Suffo along with injuries to Robert Ullathorne and Michael Brown. West Brom were leading when the game was called off and were later awarded the points. However debate has still raged over whether or not Sheff Utd got their men sent off on purpose to postpone the game. Blades boss Neil Warnock has strongly denied that claim on munerous occasions. Today the Blades were hit with a £10,000 fine for failing to control their players. Warnock was charged £300 for minor misconduct towards a 4th official in the said game but was not found guilty of getting his players to fake an injury or get sent off. |
