Gillingham striker, Marlon King has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for handling a stolen car.

The striker had been accused of handling a stolen £31,000BMW from the Chelsea area last July, police checks revealed that the number plates were fake.

The 22 year old former Barnet man pleaded not gulity on the basis that he didn't know the car was stolen and that he bought the car for a seemingly bargain £15,000. The judge discredited his claim and issued an 18 months sentence.

Only yesterday King was in court on assult charges after he was alleged to have attacked a police officer, King was aquitted but returned to court today.

Indications are strong that King will appeal but no confirmation has been issued. Neither King or Gillingham have commented as of yet, his future at the club is also unknown.
