Norwich Chairman resigns

Norwich city chairman, Bob Cooper has resigned from the club for personal reasons.

Current director, Robert Munby will replace Cooper at the helm of the Carrow Road club.

Cooper sent a letter to the majority share holders, Delia Smith and Michael Wynn Jones informing them of his decision. A board meeting was called and Munby was appointed with immediate effect.

Cooper actually made his decison in the early stages of the year but decided not to reveal all until the season was over in fear of distarcting the club from their push for promotion. Cooper felt sure that he had helped turn things round at Norwich.

"It was clear when I arrived the team needed major surgery. This needed time and money. The money to rebuild the team came from the sale of Craig Bellamy and others,"

The club is financially much healthier and this year will show, for the first time in many years, a healthy financial result achieved without the need to sell players and with no overdraft at the end of the year."

"I believe under my chairmanship Norwich has come through a difficult time and has now emerged as a happy and optimistic club again."
