Wise given free transfer

Dennis Wise has been handed a free transfer by Leicester City along with fellow high earners Matt Elliot and Tim Flowers.

This move is part of Leicesters plans to cut the wage bill following relegation and not affected by Wise's incident last week with left Callum Davidson with a serious facial injury.

Last week the club admitted that they would need to cut the wage bill to match the reduced level of income.

A Leicester spokesperson told BBC Online that the players were informed prior to the tour. "Dennis Wise, Tim Flowers and Matt Elliott were all told before they left for the pre-season tour that they were being given free transfers.

"The investigation into Dennis Wise's breach of club conduct has still to take place."

Boss Micky Adams also spoke to the BBC. "Fans have to understand the club is very strapped financially.

"The decision was taken out of my hands somewhat because Matty Elliott is one of the highest-paid players at the club.

"I've spoken with Matty. It won't affect our relationship.

"He's shown a terrific attitude in training and in the matches so far.

"But I live in the real world and while it's disappointing to lose good players, it doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't have a future at the club."
