Ardley on trial with Derby

Wimbledon midfielder Neil Ardley is on trial with Derby County and eyeing a possible move to Pride Park after a launching a verbal attack on The Dons.

Ardley joined Wimbledon as a trainee 13 years ago and signed a 3-year-deal last summer, that deal however contained a clause that Wimbledon have the option of selling him after the first year. As part of a cost-cutting scheme The Dons decided to take that option before changing their minds.

Ardley however is upset at the time taken to offer him a new contract and launched a verbal attack on The Dons and chairman Charles Koppel. "Wimbledon told me they would make me an offer, but I was told I couldn't go on tour with them and they won't let me play in friendly matches.

"I've tried to contact the chairman (Charles Koppel) but he didn't return my calls and I'm not waiting around for Wimbledon any more.

"I'm not stupid so I have to resign myself to not getting a contract here despite 13 years of loyal service. It's a shame."

If Derby do make a move for Ardley it is thought Wimbledon will allow a free transfer to get the midfielder off the wage books.
