Grimsby Town have signed defender Steve Chettle on a one-year deal.
The 33-year-old was tipped for a big future upon breaking into the Nottm Forest team and was a key member of the Forest team of the early 90's that enjoyed much success in the domestic and European competitions.
Chettle then moved on to Barnsley in the late 90's after the club had already been relegated from the Premiership.
Last season Barnsley were relegated from Division 1 and Chettle was not offered a new deal after his contract had expired.
Chettle now moves to Grimsby on a one-year-deal. Chettle's arrival will be a welcome one at Blundell Park with the squad down to the bare bones and just 3 recognised centre backs, two of whom are struggling with injury.
