Head to Head: Ipswich
By Paul Holmes
August 9 2002
With the season approaching fast we have given the fans of Division 1 teams the chance to let us know their feelings on the coming season. Next up is Ipswich fan Danielle
Who are you playing on Saturday(10th)?
Walsall away
What result are you expecting?
Overall, we're expecting a win... We need a good result to get our first season in Division One off to a flying start. And with Burley wanting 100 goals this season, it averages about two a match so hopefully we'll see lots of goals too!
Who should we look out for in your team this season?
Tommy Miller -- excellent in the last few matches of last season.
Darren
Ambrose -- scored two against Celta Vigo.
Pablo Counago -- Young Spaniard,
should get on the score sheet.
Darren Bent -- Already proved his worth in the
Premiership so he should thrive in the First Division.
Of course, you look out
for already well established players such as Matty Holland, Hermann Hreidarsson
and Marcus Stewart.
P> Any youngsters expected to break through?
Yep, we have quite a few promising youngsters, Darren Bent, Darren Ambrose, and Justin Miller to name three.
Are you happy with your manager?
Extremely happy, George Burley is blue through and through and I feel he would do anything for the Club. I do not solely blame George for our relegation because it wasn't just his fault. Everyone makes mistakes and he will learn from that and hopefully we will bounce back a stronger team.
Will he do a good enough job, in your opinion?
Yes, in my opinion, he will do a great job this season. He has got rid of the 'dead wood' and now (hopefully) we are left with players that are committed to the club and our promotion campaign. However, if something does go wrong this season, and we do not qualify for the play-offs, I believe that the fans will have had enough and Burley will go.
Who are you looking forward to be playing and why?
Oooh, has to be the Norwich! The derby match at Portman Road didn't quite go as plan the last time we met, so we will be looking for revenge. Derby matches make the atmosphere electric in the grounds and it should be a good match since Norwich did well last season -- I never thought I'd say that!
Finally, where will you finish?
Hmmmm... I really don't want to tempt fate, so I'm not going to be too specific. To generalise it, top half of the table.
A big thanks to Danielle from Signing The Blues
