Woeful Wrexham drop more points

Man of the match Matty Crowell took his opportunity to show what he's made of with a man of the match performance in a match which lacked the final touch with goals hard to find as of late for Denis Smiths side.

Wrexham took the lead after a superb goal from Carlos Edwards, speculation about his future at the Racecourse didn't seem to effect his performance today and played one of his better games in recent weeks.

Wrexham going for goals it seemed with a striking force of Hector Sam, Chris Llewellyn and Chris Armstrong, who is still waiting for his first home league goal, the attacking system didn't work as Rushden and Diamonds were pretty solid at the back and Rushden manager Brian Talbot will be very pleased with a point.

Denis Smith will be angered that Wrexham didn't put the ball in the back of the net after many chances especially in the first 45 minutes.

With centre-back Dennis Lawrence and midfielder Darren Ferguson out with suspension that led to the entrance of Shaun Pejic and Matty Crowell, Crowell got the man of the match award and could well have played his way into the side to face Oldham on Tuesday.

So with more points dropped at home, and no backlash from the Bournemouth game, a 1-1 draw must have dissapointed the Wrexham crowd, so we now look forward to the trip to Oldham Athletic with a win much needed if we want to stay in touch with the play-off pack.
