Dundee United boss Ian McCall would be happy for Berti Vogts to try to coax striker Billy Dodds out of international retirement.

He was one of the players who retired from the international scene after Scotland's failure to qualify for the World Cup in 2002.

But after they climbed off the foot of the Premier League with victory over Motherwell on Saturday, McCall was adamant that despite his years, Dodds could still do a job for Vogts.

"Scotland are not exactly blessed with lots of strikers and I think that Billy would be in contention for a place in the squad if he was to make himself available," he said.

"However, it's not my decision, it would be entirely up to Billy but I wouldn't have a problem with him coming out of retirement."
