Paterson stays at Tannadice

Dundee United's Jim Paterson has committed himself to a new two-year deal with the club despite interest from England and another Bank of Scotland Premier League club.

The former Scotland Under-21 international has been plagued by injuries in his time at the club but Tannadice manager Ian McCall was desperate to keep Paterson on Tayside.

He said: "Jim has done well since I came here and I am very pleased he has accepted our offer of a new deal.

"In the last two years he has been very unlucky with injuries, but I feel if he can get a good couple of years problem free you are looking at having a very good player on the books.

"There was one club here and a team in England who wanted him, but we are pleased he feels this is the place to be."
