No SFA rap for Dundee United's McLaren

The Scottish FA will not take any action against Dundee United's Andy McLaren after an alleged spitting incident in the match against Motherwell.

He was the subject of intense abuse from a small section of Fir Park fans during the 3-1 defeat at the weekend.

In 1999, McLaren was sacked by Reading after failing a drugs test and he has since been a target for abuse at grounds all over the country.

But the SFA are satisfied action taken by Strathclyde Police and match official Charlie Richmond, who booked McLaren, were enough to deal with the incident.

United manager Ian McCall warned the player over his reaction to crowd abuse but revealed McLaren was also struck by a coin.
