SCOTT Arfield was denied from the spot as Burnley came within a whisker of victory at Crystal Palace.The Scot had a golden chance to earn all three points with just six minutes remaining of a tight Selhurst Park clash.
But Julian Speroni’s stunning spot-kick save earned the Eagles a share of the spoils and left both sides still looking for their first win of the Premier League campaign. The Clarets made one change to the side that drew 0-0 with Manchester United last time out. New signing George Boyd made his debut on the left side of midfield, replacing the injured Matt Taylor, who was sidelined with an Achilles problem. There was, however, no place on the bench for fellow new signings Nathanial Chalobah and Michael Keane. And roared on by the usual noisy fans, it was the hosts who made the better start. Damien Delaney first saw his effort from a Wilf Zaha cut-back deflected for a corner and, from the resulting dead ball Scott Dann headed against the face of the crossbar. Zaha then roared at Kieran Trippier as the Clarets lost possession in midfield as Palace came even closer to opening the scoring.
