Burnley 0 Sunderland 0

Burnley registered their third consecutive goalless draw as points were once again shared at Turf Moor. The Clarets got off to a fast-paced start and also finished the game on a strong note, but were unable to find the breakthrough despite a host of chances against a Sunderland team also still looking for their first league win of the season.

And best chances came right at the end with substitute Ashley Barnes and Patrick van Aanholt both hitting the woodwork!

George Boyd was handed his Turf Moor debut as Sean Dyche made just one alteration to the side that drew at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Marvin Sordell replaced the injured Danny Ings up front and Burnley were out of their blocks immediately

Wes Brown had to stretch to clear Boyd’s inviting ball across the face of goal behind for a corner with just seconds on the clock.

Moments later, Kieran Trippier tested Vito Mannone in the Sunderland goal with a well-struck long-range effort.

In all seriousness, I thought we played well again today, the only slight negative I would have is that we didn't score against a weak defence, how bad was Wes Brown?

(Sm1)

I wouldn't have him here.

Poyet surprised me, his subs ended any threat of a Sunderland goal, nice move Gus.

Gonna get a player ratings thread up.

Draws at home agaisnt teams that are most likely to be struggling at the bottom of the league like us will see us relegated at the end of the season.

5 games 5 good performances.

Sadly we just don't have the cutting edge we had last year, obviously the higher level and the partnership of Vokes and Ings not there.

Really not sure how we are going to start converting these chances with the players at our disposal.

thumbs down

That will actually do for me. Don't care if we go down as long as we put up a better effort than last time around when we just bent over once Coyle up and left.

It's a bit frustrating, we're showing we can compete at this level, we're not out of our depth by any means. Just need a goal or two, we're as good as these teams and no mistake.

I said near the end it's just like watching us last year in the Championship..... but without the goals.

I thought we played really well today, and at times we were a joy to watch. I think if Juke manages to put one of these chances away, that will be the first of many.
