Ashley Barnes' goal of the season contender ultimately counted for nothing as Tottenham edged out Burnley at White Hart Lane.

The Clarets striker rifled a magnificent drive into the top corner midway through the first half after Sean Dyche’s sided trailed to a controversial opener from the hosts. And it took another wonderful strike from Erik Lamela 10 minutes before half time to finally see Spurs over the line, as Burnley pressed hard in vain after the break for a precious point. Burnley were unchanged from the side that beat Southampton last weekend. And it was an open start by both sides, with Scott Arfield firing over and Ryan Mason drilling a low drive wide of Tom Heaton’s goal. Stunning goal by Barnes. Mee def needs some help up as spurs are triple teaming him at times. Danny looks like he could get behind the spurs defence with his pace n skill. Coue of times been last ditch touches to stop his progress.

It's all going as well as could be expected, Palace already beaten, Hull, QPR and Leicester all behind at half-time.

Ings did get in behind a couple of times at start of second time but touches took him a bit too wide. Spurs obviously were worried about him with the rough stuff the dishes out to him second half.
To me goes to show how far we have come when we are gutted with a 2-1 defeat at Spurs.

I may be the only BFC fan living in Malaysia. Fortunately, including a couple of games at Turf Moor I have been able to see all but one of our games this season live on the TV here. Malaysia is Football mad. Some people even watch La Liga. However the Premiership is the focus for millions. Everywhere you go you will see Man united, Chelsea and Arsenal shirts.
On Saturday 20 December if you knew where to look in Kuala Lumpur you would have found this fan wearing a 70s retro shirt with the stylish ‘BFC’ logo and watching the Spurs game.
When I checked into my hotel I was aghast to find that although the game was shown live on TV, in the hotel rooms they didn’t have the correct channel. On enquiring where I could watch the Burnley game I got lots of blank looks so tried the alternative: “Hi, where can I watch the Manchester United game tonight”? As I expected (this is Malaysia after all) the hotel lounge bar were due to show the United game. I politely explained I was a hotel guest and that there was actually a quality alternative they could show to try to draw in the crowds. So after this was agreed - without any money changing hands, I arrived to watch the game. Other than the Man Utd fan and his girlfriend a couple of tables away, I was almost the only person in there. I say almost, because three feet to the side of the huge drop down screen was an attractive talented singer and her accompanying pianist. As she was belting out her many hits during the end of the early Man City Palace game I wasn’t too bothered but this was to continue through most of the Clarets’ game. Live entertainment and a live match!
She seemed a little startled at the hysterical applause, midway through a Norah Jones hit, when Barnes hit the goal of the season. Her by now solitary audience member sitting directly in front of the screen and only ten feet from her, had of course risen to his feet in acclamation. After about 75 minutes, the hotel’s money clearly expended “Have yourself a Merry little Christmas” was the final song coinciding with the Clarets’ late domination. What could I do but ask her, when she said she didn’t know "No Nay Never", “Is that it then love? Can you turn the volume up for the football, Ta?
All in all a memorable game if perhaps for the wrong reasons!
