Arsenal injury crisis – Wenger won’t buy

Since posting Arsenal Times preview this morning (see link to "Its a mystery" below article) Wenger has held a press conference announcing a sick list longer than Warnock’s gesticulating arm. The most important new injuries are those to Hleb and Walcott.

Also Fabregas, Aliadiere, Song and Baptista have colds, but will be included in the squad. None of the other injuries, apart from Lauren, are due back; Adebayor is out for at least two games. There is no definite news on Henry, Gallas, Ljungberg or Eboue.

Wenger will not buy

However Wenger made it clear that he has no intention of buying during the transfer window, as he believes the squad is big and strong enough. No doubt he has in mind Baptista, plus youngsters like Denilson.

Sheffield Utd: Kenny, Davis, Morgan, Jagielka, Nade, Kozluk, Armstrong, Bromby, Tonge, Gillespie, Webber, Hulse, Kazim-Richards, A Quinn, Montgomery.

Arsenal: Lehmann, Hoyte, Toure, Djourou, Senderos, Clichy, Fabregas, Gilberto, Rosicky, Baptista, van Persie, Almunia, Denilson, Flamini, Aliadiere, Song, Lauren.
