Valiant Arsenal Out VAR'd Player Ratings Partey MotM

This defeats hurts but this wasn't the normal bottle job.  We deserved something out of this match.  While we get no points I think this match will give the players confidance knowing that they can compete with the best.

Var/ Officals have cost us the game. 0

Ramsdale 6 - Caught out a few times.  Some good distribution.

Tomi 9- Brilliant.  Dealt with Sterling.  Real warrior out there.

White 7 - Got caught out a few times but defended well in the main.

Gabriel  7 - Was playing very well but 2 silly yellows probably cost us the game.

Tierney 6 - Doesn't tackle just keeps backing off.  Extra point for the assist for Saka goal.

Partey 9 - His best performance for the club.  MOTM, doninated midfield in the first half and was great in the 2nd half as well.  Such a shame he's now off with his country.

Xhaka 7- Had a good game, but got conned by Silva which proved costly.  It wasn't a pen.

Saka 8 - Great finish for his goal.  Got tired late on.

Odegaard 8 -  Another good performance.   Should have had a pen for a clear foul.  Unlucky to be replaced but wasn't much chioce.

Martinelli 8- Played very well but should have scored.  It was an open goal.

Laca 8 - Worked very hard and some good link up.  Wasn't much off a goal threat.

Substitutes
Holding 5 - Poor for their goal.  Didn't move his feet quick enough to get back.

Elneny 5 - No impact

Smith Rowe 5 -  No impact.

Fair ratings in hindsight. Yes both xhaka and gabriel made stupid mistakes, but Ramsdale could have looked silly in the first half when Ruben headed wide Abe Martinelli skills have scored/ assisted from at least one of his chances. The outcome of the game would have been different then.
Still this is the best performance against City imho since Jack's goal in the second half when we drew against them at the emirates. And this is not a fluke. The passing and movement against Norwich was also extremely modern and better than we have seen for a long time. Onwards and upwards.

Sorry but how can you give Gabriel higher marks than Ramsdale,Tierney and White.

Gabriel was the same as White but he would have been higher if he didn't get 2 yellows. He was very good.

Ramsdale had a few shaky moments. The first half he was caught out fo4 Diaz header.

White was caught out of position in the first half. He let Sterling in behind him but Gabriel bailed him out. Even their winner he should have come across must quicker as he could see the whole picture.

Tienery was the weak link in our defence and they got behind him the most. I don't need to comment on them getting behind him for their pen+

We made some slips up at the back in the first half but that was one of the best first halves we have played in a long time when you consider the quality of the opposition. We had far better chances than them. The second half we partly imploded, but the ref was responsible for much of that.
Pep has replaced Ferguson. We were very unluckly but must keep calm, Xhaka pours petrol on fires.

Sorry GS Xhaka and Gabriel cost us the game.
You can't give marks of 7 to them.
That's ridiculous.

Not really because he was excellent before that.

Why was there a second Match Ratings post when Matty had already done a very good one ?

I had already emailed Padre my ratings prior to Matty's and didn't know he was going to do them.

As I said the other day to Maple? I think it's good if we rotate the ratings as it can get stale with 1 person doing them.

Because Matty's marks for Tierney and Gabriel didn't agree with GS's. 😆😆😆

Did you think of messaging him ?
