Hackett Sort It Out!!!

Keith Hackett. Whats the difference between Arca's tackle on Johnson and Terry's tackle on Osman? None really both were severe except that Arca got a yellow card!! Keith Stroud who gave Arca the yellow card has set the precedent. Last night's referee at Goodison Park, Phil Dowd has had two days to look at Arca's challenge and think about dealing with the same.

Terry, England's captain was sent off for a lunge well inside Everton's half against Osman and Arca got a yellow card for his disgusting leg breaker against Johnson on Saturday.

Hackett sort it out, let's get some consistency ffs!!

Everton Red Card 2

As for the rest of the game.

Everton without any recognised strikers in their line-up 'sussed' Scolari's team and lined up as 4-5-1 and compressed Chelsea all night long.

Scolari's plan with Bossie and Cole being the 'hardworking' first line of wing attack and last line of defence has now been completely blown away and Chelsea have been found wanting and this is now away from home!!

Terry's sending off didn't help, but the lacklustre performances of Ballack, Lampard and mainly Deco didn't help either.

Thanks to the watchful eye of the assistant referee five minutes from time Everton had a goal disallowed for offside, had it not, it would have been because the ball was kicked out of the hands of Cechie who had initially saved on the line.

So Chelsea have been 'sussed' out not only at home but now away and ironically it's because David Moyes's Everton side couldn't do much with the formation that they set out with (no forwards) and Cahill in their 4-5-1 which turned into 4-6,
which caused Chelsea more problems, than any other away opponent this season and Everton had the best chances!!!

So Phil, your team is mis-firing at home and now mis-fired at Goodison last night despite JTs sending off, Everton albeit the home side has 'sussed out' our options only because they had to and we were found wanting.

To be honest, three times we have failed when asked the question to overtake Liverpool at the top of the table and for me three times is TOO much and I won't be in too much of a rush to get to Stamford Bridge on Friday when we play WBA.

Everton:
Howard, Hibbert, Yobo (Baines 60), Jagielka, Lescott, Osman, Neville
(c), Arteta, Pienaar, Fellaini, Cahill

Chelsea:
Cech, Bosingwa, Alex, Terry (c), A Cole, Milkel, J Cole (Ivanovic h/t),
Ballack, Lampard, Deco (Bridge 86), Anelka (Drogba h/t)

Sent off:
Terry 34

Booked: Lampard 42, A Cole 42, Ballack 67

Well Pienaar was offside but it was your cheating german who "scored" the goal .. hurting your marvelous goalkeeper in the process... but then again Ballack should have been off by then .. the way he was hurt when Cahill hit his shoulder ... and for blamin Dowd for making the right decision.... the foul on AJ was a red card aswell

As an Everton fan, I see your point and understand the frustration, but you call Arca's tackle on Johnson "a disgusting leg breaker" a couple of lines after saying there was no difference between Arca's and Terry's.

Kind of answered your own complaint there, therefore.

Should have been red; as should Arca's. Just because refs fail to punish sufficiently on one oocasion, doesn't mean others should follow suit.

Well firstly my take on the JT tackle;

It´s the sort of tackle that could technically be seen as a red but usually gets a yellow. It is seen in a lot of matches and sometimes even goes unpunished. We will see this type of tackle many more times this season - and no red will be produced which is very frustrating if you are a Chelsea fan considering Terry went for it.

This particular tackle wasn´t your studs right up and late - in fact, if there is a still photo available you will see that BOTH Osman and Terry had their boots up at a similar angle.

I´d have no complaints about the Terry red IF all similar tackles were given the same punishment - but they are not. Gerrard (just to give one example) does this type of challenge most weeks but it is seen as "passion" and not foul play.

What we have now got is a situation where a precedent is being set for 50/50 tackles (which this one was in my opinion) where the player that "pulls out" slightly at the last moment (which usually happens - its like a game of "chicken" to a certain extent) or is physically weaker than the other will be deemed the victim and the other the offender. To my mind this incident is another example of our contact sport being sanitised too much - the thin end of the wedge.

Now that I´ve had time to calm down after the frustration of last nights match, the Terry red and failing to capitalise AGAIN to go top I actually think that we ended up with a decent result. Everton are no mugs, Moyes has them very well drilled and motivated and even though we usually do well at Goodison they ALWAYS make us work our balls off for a result. Man Utd don´t forget, also "only got a draw" up there playing with 11 men.

The main aspect that I found disappointing was the failure of Lampard and Ballack to impose themselves in midfield. Deco is inconsistant - he´s capable of giving the ball away too much but also playing passes that few players are capable of - he could probably do with being rested for the odd game and some match time given to someone else so that when he does play he is a bit fresher.

Cech was outstanding as we know he can be. Since a dodgy patch (by his own standard) the medical staff discovered that he had developed a slight sight defect (maybe a result of the Hunt challenge?) which has been corrected by contact lenses. Now his sight is ok we have the OLD Cech back.

Annoying that Scolari didn´t have the opportunity to go for 2 up front in the 2nd half (which I think was his intention) due to the Terry red and subsequent re-shuffle.

Amazingly, we are still in a strong postion; Man Utd can go level but still have to win their 2 games in hand to do so and we have a superior goal difference. We will get stronger despite recent form - with players back now and more time to work on alternative systems we have a chance to rack up wins and apply presssure. Disappointed of course but all is not lost by any means.

i think the referee was very poor. not because of the JT tackle, i agree with an everton fan friend of mine, it's one of those it's a bit late and could be dangerous so a yellow maybe isn't enough, but it's certainly not a straight red, it was 50-50 and JT was fractionally late. it wasn't a lunge or malicious. JT had eyes only on the ball and winning it.

my issue was with the fact cahill slide into the back of Alex and nothing was given, Cahill made 10 fouls last night and didn't even get yellow. Everton had 18+ fouls in the game, no yellows no reds, yet chelsea had <9 and had 3 yellows and a red. law of averages would state everton should had atleast 3 yellows too. every decision the Dowd had to make was in evertons favour. the only one that went our way was the lino spotting peinaar was offside/ball kicked out of cech's hands.

the FA are doing everything they can to make sure Liverpool win the league this season. liverpool's opponents have been reduced to 10 men in around 6 of the 18 games so far, most notably adebayor, the wigan chap (whilst wigan were winning 2-1 at anfield), not to mention other 'dodgy' decisions like mascherano's handball (hull should have beaten them 2-1 or 3-1)...

yet chels have been denied a penalty against west ham, arsenal's offside goal.

Apparently these things even themselves out of the course of the season.. so winning the league should be no problem at all, as we play against 10 men at anfield and OT.. given penalties at the library.. etc etc.

You might want to watch the highlights again - and you will see that it is actually Piennar who kicks the ball out of Cech´s hands.

What has Ashley Cole supposed to have done now???

The problem I have is that re players gobbing off, protesting etc... other teams do it and everyone seems to turn a blind eye (and come out with stuff that you have above) BUT as soon as Chelsea do it, we are the devil´s spawn!

but every team has to learn the refs in charge, and cashley is one of the biggest offenders and we all no it,,,he makes a rod for his own back, you no it and i no it,
the lad is a fool to himself,,,good player just cant keep his gob shut, does he do it when in an england shirt,no why, respect, and thats down to man management,,dixon dont take this as assault on you or your team, lets debate it properly

Of course (and I take no offence).

All I am saying is that there is too much hyprosiy going on. There are so many players that give the ref a mouthful yet NOTHING gets said or done about it. I bet if we watched even the match last night, we would be able to pick out Everton players gobbing off to the ref - but yet this is glossed over. Cue a Chelsea player (and especially Ashley Cole) and we get slated.

case in point was Steven Gerrard on sunday.. after he dived on the edge of the box and ref waved him a way. Gerrard waved his arms all over the place.. and was foaming at the mouth as he struggled to control the 8 or 9 'swear' words that flowed out of his whiny trap.

a yellow card? no. not even a free kick, a telling off or a warning.

yet a chelsea player would be booked and fined for it, not to mention a yellow card for the dive itself!

Toffees skipper Neville said: “From where I was, it looked like a good, old-fashioned tackle by Terry — but you can’t seem to do that any more.

“But I actually thought the referee did very well. They will complain that he did not book any Everton players but we didn’t lose our discipline, did we?”

Meanwhile, Everton boss David Moyes has paid a glowing tribute to Terry in the wake of his dismissal.

Moyes said: “JT’s a good lad and came to see Leon afterwards.

“He asked if he was OK and had a word with him. That’s fine by me. I don’t think for one minute he was out to harm Leon.”

Firstly let us get things straight. Football is not football any more. It was a 50/50 ball and BOTH players missed it and came off worse. How Dowd, or any other ref for that matter, could judge it at that speed is beyond me.
You are not allowed to tackle anymore. FiFa powder puffs d not like contact... but football is a contact game.

I think there should be a breakaway from Fifa / Uefa for clubs that want to play proper (not dirty) but fair football..Mans football. Where crowds can stand up without dozey officials telling you to sit down or face ejection... and where money is not the centre of attraction at football clubs. The atmosphere in the 70's was a billion times better than it was before officialdom, at all levels, went beserk and the games run by idiots who have no idea what real football is about and means to the fans.

I'm certain that fans would warm to "real" football.

Time to bring this lot down and show them that the fans are the people who matter.

As for refs and officials, each team should be able to allocate points on how they performed in their respective matches. At the end of the season, the bottom officials should be demoted and barred from officiating at major matches for good. Trouble is I think most of them are totally useless and need to be replaced.

Time these officials were given a hard time outside football. They are cheating the fans and the clubs.

Dowd and his officials cheated. Chelsea should have had 2 clear corners prior to the awful JT decision. He saw the JT tackle though.
As for that idiot Graham Poll and his ludicrous comments in the mail... Poll lives in Tring, Hertfordshire. With his constant war against JT and Chelsea in particular.. I wouldn't step out of his front door if I were him. He is a cheat and a loudmouth.
I don't think the mail will be too happy when the thousands of Chelsea supporters who buy the mail, refrain from doing so until Poll apologises in public or is humiliatingly sacked. Remember this is the idiot who bought shame on England by his refereeing in the last world cup when he booked the same bloke twice without sending him off!
Just goes to show the Mail will employ anybody.

Yes it was shameful the way Poll used the incident to re-open his constant war against Terry from since that Spurs game - he just won´t let it lie. The bloke is a tosseur of the highest order.
