Michael Ballack's 'stupid' act of arm raising against WBA's Chris Brunt has cost him his place in the team against Southend next Saturday in the FA Cup, after his actions earned him a fifth yellow card. WBA's manager was annoyed that Ballack didn't get the red. He said "Ballack? I don't want to be drawn into any controversy here but's its a bit confusing."
"He lifted an arm and pushed or slapped Chris in the face. Mr Styles gets paid to referee and if he doesn't think a slap in the face is worthy of more than a yellow card, so be it.
"It was right in front of me and right in front of him. I'm a firm believer that you should have Mr Styles here asking him questions not me. Ask him why he didn't take a different action?"
Finally Scolari dropped his 'favourite son,' Deco and started Didier Drogba alongside Nicolas Anelka, with Joe Cole in a three, in a formation of 4-3-3.
It didn't take long for the big Ivorian to cut down any nerves present in Stamford Bridge yesterday lunchtime.
After a 'double' play of The Liquidator, the quiet crowd were out of their seats inside four minutes when Dids brilliantly headed home from a Joe Cole cross.
It was another forty minutes before the second goal arrived. A short Joe Cole pass into Ashley, saw the left-back stumble before the ball broke kindly into Super Frank who contolled the ball with his right foot before cleverly dinking the ball over Carson with his left foot.
This victory was very welcomed, since our last home league win was way back in November with the 5-0 drubbing of Sunderland.
In between the goals, Ashley Cole hit the post and his rebound effort with his right foot was saved by Carson.
Super Frank sliced one wide. Another couple of Carson saved WBA from further humiliation and had Chelsea scored three or more, there wouldn't have been many complaints from the Baggies camp.
Congratulations to the Baggies fans who sold out their allocation and made it on time to The Bridge for the 1pm kick-off.

Difficult to see if it was 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 at the beginning as Drogba was all over the pitch - Anelka was more or less central.
Both well taken goals.
A Welcome result although the performance was a bit low-key. Maybe they were saving energy for Fulham in the 2nd half.
