After the debacle of a result and performance at 'Three Point Lane' last weekend, Chelsea bounced back in some style at a sun baked Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon. For the third time this season Chelsea scored seven and more pleasing was the clean sheet kept without our leader, legend and captain John Terry.
Let's be honest here. The back four and Cechie boy could have had the afternoon off such was Stoke's dismal display. One attempt all day was the total of their endeavours. Even Stoke's chief Tony Pullis said '0 was a good result.'
The afternoon got off to a quiet start. The team looked nervous, edgy and cagey and the crowd were certainly quiet. Very quiet. Once Sorensen brilliantly saved from a Didier standing header, things started to liven up.
By half-time, Stoke were 3-0 down, Faye had gone off injured and sadly so did Sorensen with a discolated elbow sustained trying to prevent Kalou scoring his and Chelsea's second.
Chelsea's third came from a Super Frank penalty after Huth clawed and clutched at Kalou, before Kalou tumbled over in the area.
Penalty dispatched and the lovely Christine was spotted singing 'Super Frank' and clapping wildly.
I was looking for a leader in JTs absence and although Didier didn't score, his crazy, wild goal celebrations following his brilliant take-down and cross for Kalou to head home from close-range showed that he was the man for the day.
More goals followed in the second-half. Kalou got his hat-trick on the 2nd attempt, Danny Sturridge scored his first Chelsea Premier League goal, Malouda eventually scored after that amazing open goal miss and a brilliant Begovic save but for me the pick of the second-half goals was Super Frank's sublime reverse flick from a wonderful cross by substitute Sam Hutchinson.
Sam's inclusion on the bench was a wonderful surprise. He has been blighted with terrible knee injuries over the last couple of years and had only made a couple of reserve appearances in the last couple of games.
He looks fit and fast but he needs to control himself inside the area if he wants to score a goal. What a wonderful tonic for Sam, after all his problems, had that effort gone in.
Chelsea are THREE games away from a historic League and Cup double - Liverpool, Wigan and Portsmouth - stand in our way.
Liverpool is next up on Sunday. Here's hoping Mr Hyde doesn't mutate back into Dr Jekyll.

I was a bit worried before the game i thought we would leave it late as usual to get the winner but they were truly magnificent.
Great to see Ashley and Ivanovic back we need to play them at Anfield.
Sam Hutch was impressive when he came on and showed no nerves at all and what a cross for Frankies cheeky goal.
Now the showdown at Anfield and some say it is the most important game of Chelsea`s 105 year history.
