Chelsea Get Four More But it Could Have Been More

The Red Red Robin is the music that the teams use to make their entrance. Just a bit like Blue Day, Blue is the Colour, Kolinka, you get my drift.

Everybody expected Chelsea to win. Critics, Chelsea fans and more than likely realistic Charlton fans as well. I don't think that ANYBODY expected Chelsea to win a comfortably and easy as they did. As I say it was premeditated murder.

Five points clear at the top of the league, 'The Arse's' goal difference now overtaken (plus 21 to their plus 20) and we are having a laugh. Not just in the Premiership, but the Champions League and the Carling Cup as well, with the FA Cup to come. Oh what joy!

I said on the message board that I wasn't going to pay Charlton's asking price of £45-£49, with the benefit of foresight I might just have changed my mind. So instead I followed the game on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday and also live commentary on Big Blue. It was just SOOOOOO easy. A goal up inside four minutes from the Duff Man (similar to the goal he scored against Bolton last week) and Chelsea got the start that I am sure JM had prayed for. After that it just seemed to be the case of how many Chelsea would actually score. There was a spell in the first half when Charlton did appear to threaten an equaliser, and that almost came when Carvalho headed a cross on to his own post, before Gallas turned it away for a corner. Charlton's best and most direct way of equalising would have been through set pieces. But it was Chelsea scoring twice in three minutes from Super John Terry both from set pieces within five minutes of the second half resuming and just on 60 minutes Eidersson scored the fourth, and his reward - subsitution almost immediately - allowing the Dids (Drogba) to get another thrity minutes of action under his belt.

Chelsea still pressed forward looking for that fifth. Chance after chance, save after save from Kiely. Fair play to Kiely he kept up his game and concentration and kept the score down, which could have easily reached double figures. To impress on how Chelsea dominated the game, Charlton's first shot on target causing the giant Cech to do some work, came in the 78th minute. All of Charlton's meagre opportunties, went either high or wide.

Those who said that Duff and Robben couldn't play in the same team must be eating their words AGAIN tonight, as well as scoring Duff caused Charlton all sorts of problems on one flank, Robben caused problems down the other and when they swapped over they caused Charlton a whole heap of more problems.

So many problems to the degree that Curbishley changed three players at once. Desperate measures even at 4-0 down. Once Robben and Duff were replaced it was just a question of how quickly the clock would run down. Poor Super Frankie Lampard (Curbishley said Lamps would be the player he would take from any of the Chelsea squad if he could) as hard as he tried, he just couldn't get on the score sheet.

Come the glorious day in May, should Chelsea lift the title, I would imagine there will be a nice man in Spain somewhere, glowing with contention that he had something to do with Chelsea lifting the Premiership crown. After all CR you brought us Rocking Robben, Reliant Robben, Arjen Robben. Providing he stays clear of injury - mind you with his pace and skill - its gonna take a lot for someone to catch him to injure him, this man could just be the player that Chelsea have needed. Since he has been back look at all the goals Chelsea have scored. ROCK ON ROBBEN!
