No Rousing Chorus from Delia

As I say these feelings only lasted seven minutes. As JM pulled of a masterstroke of tactical genius. Unlucky with the three substitutions recently at Newcastle, tonight he replaced Drogba and Tiago with Gudjohnsen and Kezman. Within minutes of the substitutions taking place Chelsea had restored their lead.

The game itself up to this point, Chelsea dominated and were in complete control possession wise. Chances at both ends were few and far between and to be fair neither goalkeeper were tested to any great deal. In the first ten minutes though, Chelsea forced three corners, had three shots, and a Duff chipped effort cleared off the line. It took till the twenty-first minute when Joe Cole rode one tackle for a pass from Makelele battled to win the loose ball in another tackle and struck a powerful left foot shot high into Robert Green's net. Chelsea led and it was very much deserved. After that it was just a question of how many Chelsea were likely to score. Fair play to Norwich though they didn't give up and tried to make goal chances difficult for Chelsea. Then in the sixty-fourth minute, Huckerby slung over a cross, the ball eluded both Terry and Carvalho and Leon McKenzie skillfully steered the ball into the net past a stagnant Petr Cech.

Substitutions made. Cue Eider Gudjohnsen. After receiving the ball from an interchange of passes between Cole and Johnson, Gudjohnsen skilfully looped the ball over the Norwich defence, Lampard hit a shot that was going past the post, but Kezzer didn't give up and stabbed the ball home from about two yards. Kezzer is on a run. Two goals in two games. Nice one Kezzer.

Chelsea's third goal came from a Ricky Carvalho header from a Frank Lampard corner. Ricky's first goal for the club.

Injury worries seem to be the concern at the moment with Barcelona only four days away. First John Terry took a nasty kick in the head trying to clear a Norwich attack and then in the second half, JT had to receive treatment on what looked like a neck injury. Once Chelsea had regained the lead, JM sacrificed Damien Duff for Jari Jarosik and Jarosik immediately settled into central defence pushing JT into midfield. And Jarosik looked extremely commanding and comfortable. Both Cech and Jarosik took knocks late in the second half as did Man of the Match Joey Cole. Fingers crossed that their injuries are not that serious and that they will be available for Barcelona next Tuesday night.

With Man Utd only managing a draw at Palace, Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the Premiership to eight points and still have one game in hand. That game in hand is against WBA which is due to played on Tuesday 15th March. By the end of that evening Chelsea should be eleven points clear with nine games to go. Chelsea and Man Utd are due to play on Saturday 16th April. If Man Utd win their FA Cup tie next weekend this game will likely be rescheduled to May and by that time the race for the title could well and truly be over.
