Who's The Daddy Benitez, Who's The Daddy.........?

For the first twenty minutes or so I really thought that we were going to be in for the same type of game as we witnessed on Wednesday night. But how the irony must be sticking in the Kop's throat tonight, when on twenty-four minutes Djimi Traore crashed a clearance straight into the on rushing Didier Drogba. Drogba chased the ball into the penalty area, Traroe brought Drogba down, penalty to Chelsea. Up stepped Super Frank and crashed the ball low into the net, beneath the diving body of Reina - and in front of the Kop too. Frank was booked for his goal celebrations, but I do hope the FA/Premier League take a look at the videotape and watch the missiles being launched at Frank from angry Liverpool Supporters.

The game needed an early goal. And certainly the game was more open after. Lots of niggle, lots of spite and lots of unfinished business from Wednesday night became the fore.

Twelve minutes later Liverpool equalised. From a corner, Carragher managed to get a flick and coming round the back, Liverpool's Captain Gerard crashed in an unstoppable shot, which Cech did well to get a touch on. Game on.

And game on it was. End to end and no way boring. Chelsea took the lead again right on half time as Drogba took control of the ball on Liverpool's right and with a sublime inside flick, beat Hyppia all ends up before laying the ball into the path of Damien Duff who took one touch before steering the ball into the net. Again in front of the Kop.

Although Chelsea's defence was solid, Liverpool were reduced to long range efforts which went high wide and handsome.

At the start on the second half Chelsea survived a Liverpool onslaught which included the long ball to look for their target man Peter Crouch. Crouch did well on one effort by taking a ball on his chest, but he blasted just over.

Chelsea's third came with Drogba chasing a pass down Chelsea's left before cutting inside and shooting for goal. His shot drifted away but there was Joe Cole to steer the ball in at the far post.

To rub salt in Liverpool's wounds. Drogba repeated the feat with eight minutes to go. Crossing in from the left, the ball found Robben who mis-hit his shot and his effort found Geremi in the same position as Joe Cole, who blasted the ball high into the net.

Didier Drogba - an unconventional, gangly centre-forward had a hand in all four goals and deservedly won the Man of the Match award. There were times however I thought his temperament was going to get him sent off after an ugly clash with Alonso, but Drogba kept his composure and let his unorthodox style of football do the talking for him.

Chelsea are now nine points clear at the Premiership with eight wins from eight matches and twenty-four points and now we go into the 'boring' fortnight World Cup break. Saturday 15th October cannot come round quick enough for me.
