Facts don't lie and results are in the history books. It just seems so surreal that the last time Chelsea won at Villa Park was way back in March 1999 - 3-0 and before that in 1997 when Chelsea won 2-0.
The latter game I remember well as that was my last visit to Villa Park and I took '17 Years A Blue' who was then nine. Just goes to show how time flies and how much one is enjoying oneself LOL!! (Drunk again. Oh stoppit.... ED) It was a good day. He had this record that of all the games he had seen and there were quite a few in his young years, he had never seen Chelsea concede a goal in 'live' action. On this day, Villa were awarded a penalty at the famed 'Holte' End and Dwight Yorke missed it. As already written Chelsea won that day 2-0. Since then Villa have won two and four have been drawn. One of those draws was last season when ref Rob Styles booked 'The Drog' for diving late in the second half in the Villa penalty area and then rescinded the yellow card after being asked to review the video evidence. Guess who is the ref tonight? YEP!! Rob Styles. How much do you 'want' for a penalty? Eider Gudjohnsen returns to the squad after his late withdrawal at Everton on Saturday, following illness. 'Keeper Lenny Pidgeley is added to the squad that travelled to Birmingham, but Paulo Ferreira is still unfit after damaging a thigh in training last week. Ricardo Carvalho also travelled after his one match suspension. I expect JM to make a couple of changes from Saturday, with the following line-up: Cech, Gallas, Terry, Carvalho, Del Horno, Makelele, Robben, Lampard, Gudjohnsen, Maniche, Crespo It seems that Chelsea fans have taken on board the priority of retaining the Premiership title more than winning the FA Cup.
