Crespo Gets WON Over 'The Drog.'

Hernan Crespo became the first player from Chelsea to score in this World Cup as his Argentina side beat the Ivory Coast and Didier Drogba 2-1 last night. A second goal from Saviola put the 'Tina's 2-0 up before 'The Dids' pulled one back for the Ivorian Coastmen.

At the end of the game despite his defeat it was good to see Dids in a hug with Crespo - Could it be they were saying farewell to each other??

Prior to that, there was another shock of the tournament as the supposed whipping boys of Group B, Trinidad & Tobago, (England's Group) held the Swedes to a 0-0 draw even after having a player sent off thirty seconds after the start of the second-half.

Shaka Hislop who wasn't even due to start the game until first choice 'keeper injured himself in the warm-up, pulled off a series of wonderful saves to help to give T & T their first ever World Cup point in their debut game. T & T could have even won the game had a fierce shot from Glen not hit the bar.

In the first game of the day England got off to a winning start against Paraquay thank to a third minute own goal from Gamarra from a Beckham inswinging free-kick. England were spoilt by the huge numbers of Red and White support within the stadium in Frankfurt. Very good considering England's official allocation was about 5,000 tickets.

John Terry had an untroubled match, Frank should've became Chelsea's first World Cup scorer and Joe Cole was up to his usual tricks and completely troubled Paraquay down the left-hand side.

A win for England against T & T on Thursday will see the boys qualify for the next round.

Chelsea players in action today should include Arjen Robben as Holland face Serbia & Montenegro (fronted by ex-Chelsea Mateja Kezman) and Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira and recently released Maniche as Portugal take on Angola..
