Total Tranmere FC - Diary Dates (Part 2)

Following on from important dates announced in late July, we can now bring you some additional dates and some re-arranged dates for other events as follows.....

Thu 21st July - Training Session - 6.30pm @ Town Lane, Bebington

Sun 24th July - Pre-Season Snowdon Trip - Time TBC

Sat 6th Aug - Training Session - 10.30am @ Town Lane, Bebington

Sat 20th Aug - Match vs Podcast XI - TBC @ Shaftesbury Youth (TBC)

Sat 3rd Sep - Training Session - 10.30am @ Town Lane, Bebington

Sat 1st Oct - Match vs North Wales Dragons - TBC @ Shaftesbury Youth (TBC)

Sat 10th Dec - Match vs Rock Park - TBC @ Town Lane, Bebington (TBC)

Please note that the match against Careers Wales originally scheduled for Friday 12th August has been postponed until later in the year (date TBC) and the Podcast game has switched to Saturday 20th August with the original date of Saturday 3rd September now being training instead.

A Match before Christmas against Royal Bengal has been confirmed with a date to follow soon whilst we also hope to play Rockville again with a proper referee this time and Nige is looking into organising that.

All other Saturday home games for Tranmere Rovers will for now be training sessions and for those who hadn't heard already, the first scratchcard was won by Dave Irving and a new one will be started at training next week!

 

Semi-Final Defeat for TTFC in Tournament

Total Tranmere reached the semi-final stage of the Treuddyn Festival 5-a-side Tournament on Saturday morning before unluckily falling to a 2-1 defeat despite taking an early lead in the game.

After originally entering two teams in the competition, a no show by another team which resulted in an odd number of teams, meant TT played just one team in the tournament with a squad of ten players in total to choose from with the squad as follows...

After a few of the TT players got lost on the way to the tournament, the first game was played with the five who had made it in time for the start and after a performance that saw little attacking threat but some good defending and a great save from Matt Jones, TT conceded in the last minute when Jackson was pushed unpunished for the third time in the game and the loose ball was slotted home.

TT rallied from that unfortunate defeat and goals from Matty Holden and captain Liam McMullen saw them win 2-0 in the next match to give them three points on the board.

Liam McMullen was on the score sheet in the third game as well as TT came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 thanks to a last minute strike from Mike Chwalko which earned them two points with it being a scoring draw.

The same spine of the team was kept for the fourth game with Chris Cooper replaced by Pete Glavin and Graham Hurley replacing Matt Jones in goal and the changes paid off with a 3-0 win thanks to Mike Chwalko and Liam McMullen again and a third goal near the end from Pete Glavin!

The final group game saw high drama as TT fought out a 0-0 draw in controversial circumstances. After TT's opponents should perhaps have been given a free kick in the middle of the pitch, frustration got the better of the them and Matt Jones became the victim of a horrendous challenge from behind which prompted a reaction and a subsequent brawl which saw both Matt and his opponent red-carded. It appeared Matt was headbutted during the fracas and for both players to go off was unfortunate.

 The decision left both teams with four men to fight out a 0-0 draw which TT did well in the circumstances and it earmed them another point for a scoreless draw.

The draw gave TTFC nine points from five games (3 for a win, 2 for a score draw and 1 for a goalless draw) and meant a third place finish in the League standings.  With 1st place playing 4th and 2nd place playing 3rd, TT were left to face the team with whom they had earlier drawn 2-2 from 2-0 behind.

TT took an early lead in the semi-final for which Matt Jones was unfortunately suspended but after a poor equaliser was conceded from their own corner TT seemed to panic and conceded again.  Despite a late rally and a missed penalty from Mike Chwalko, the clock ran down and time was up for TT.

After the match Manager Mike Jackson said..

"I was proud of the team progressing to the semi-final stage and felt in the end we could have won that game and made a final appearance.  The red card was unfortunate for Matt as it's not his usual nature to react to what in fairness was an appalling challenge from behind and the fact that his suspension meant the end of his tournament, was a silly ruling to be honest"

"Liam led by example as captain but all the players in the group stages were excellent with a special mention for Kieran Hurley who was excellent on his first time out"

Captain for the day Liam McMullen added....

"I'm proud of the lads effort, I think we did well to reach the semi's and with a bit of luck next year we can go one further and at least get to the final.   I have to say a special mention to Pete Glavin, who I thought was our player on the tournament, he was magnificent. and also I'd like to say a huge thank you to Mike for giving up his time to enter us into the tournament.'

Total Tranmere's game against a Podcast XI on 3rd September has been called off and will be arranged soon hopefully for an earlier date with 20th August the most likely date.

Total Tranmere Manager Mike Jackson has already been able to arrange some matches for the new season as well as a pre-season tournament with Dates for your Diary as follows.....

All other Saturday home games for Tranmere Rovers will for now be training sessions although we do hope to add two more games between Christmas and New Year against Seven Waves Radio and North Wales Dragons with games against Royal Bengal and Rockville to be confirmed possibly after Christmas.

 

TTFC Sign Striker Sam Robinson

Total Tranmere FC have moved to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2011/12 season with the capture of striker Sam Robinson on a two year contract.

Following a recent successful trial with the squad, Robinson will boost the striking options for Total Tranmere following the departure of James Formstone over the summer,

Also leaving the team in the summer were Mark Chapman and Jonathan Vernon and speaking of the new signing and the departures, Manager Mike Jackson said today...

"I'm delighted for Sam to join Total Tranmere FC following his trial and he will provide a welcome boost to the striking options particularly following the depature of James over the summer.  I would like to wish James, Mark and Jonathan all the best and thank them for playing for Total Tranmere."

"With Matt Jones committed to University in Sheffield and therefore unable to make certain matches, Sam provides much needed strength in depth."

Sam added...."I'm honoured to join Total Tranmere FC on a two-year deal. I've been wanting to get back into the playing side of the game for a while now and I'm grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity."

Sam will intially wear the Number 29 shirt shirt although a reshuffle of squad numbers will take place later in the summer.  News on Total Tranmere's first few fixtures will be announced shortly.
