Can it really be the end of another season already?  Tranmere entertain already relegated Brentford in the final game of the season with both sides having nothing but pride to play for.

Rovers will be looking to end the season on a high with a win after early season promise turned into disappointment in a season that should have been one of re-building but instead showed promise for a time before fading away.

Rovers go into the game on a poor run which has seen them win only once in their last six matches but with the form of the visitors looking no better (five straight defeats followed by a 4-3 win over Port Vale last Saturday it should be an interesting last day.

When the two sides met at Griffin Park earlier in the season, Rovers fell behind to a Charlie Ide goal early on before Chris Shuker equalised on the stroke of half time with a superb free-kick to earn a 1-1 draw.

Brentford’s overall record at Prenton Park isn’t great but last season they went home 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Newman, Tabb, O’Connor and Owusu with Zola getting the consolation for Rovers.

Tranmere Rovers

 

Young striker Craig Curran looks set for his first start for Rovers whilst on loan goalkeeper Ben Hinchcliffe will make his first ever Football League start following the sending off of Gavin Ward in last weeks game at Crewe.

 

Ronnie Moore also has doubts over John Mullin (back), Gareth Taylor (knee) and Calvin Zola (hamstring) whilst Carl Tremarco (ankle and hamstring) is definitely out.

 

Brentford

The Bees will again be without Andy Frampton and Kevin O’Connor but are set to name an unchanged starting line-up from the one that won 4-3 at home to Port Vale last weekend.
