Rovers to open 2012/13 season with a home fixture

The season feels that little bit closer today after the fixtures for the 2012/13 season were announced this morning for all teams in the Football League.  Ronnie Moore's Tranmere side will face Leyton Orient in their first league match at Prenton Park on August 18th.

Rovers' first away match follows a handful of days later when the club will travel to Carlisle on a Tuesday night before Tranmere then take on Shrewsbury in their first competitive game at the New Meadow. 

Tranmere's Boxing Day fixture will see them take on Crewe at Prenton Park, whilst they complete the Christmas fixtures with games against Scunthorpe United (H) on December 29th and Bury (A) on New Years Day.

Over Easter, the Wirral side face Sheffield United (H) on Easter Saturday and Portsmouth (A) on Easter Monday, whilst Tranmere finish the season with a home game against Bournemouth, meaning for the second season running they are at home on the opening and final day of the season as well as Boxing Day.

Rovers' final away game of the season is against Preston on April 20th, whilst Tuesday night away games include Walsall, Hartlepool and Scunthorpe, as well as Johnstone's Paint Trophy games.

not bad fixtures but feel sorry for the players

49 games include cup games round 1 and there is 3 less weeks to do it i know its only 3 weeks and doesnt sound alot but if any fixtures get called of there will be alot more saturday tuesday fixtures which wont do any good

Happy with being at home first game, also Bury away on New Years Day should be interesting.....[:wor kid:]

Preston Away at the end of the season could be a promotion 6 pointer, and Sheff Utd home at Easter will be fun

Why does our season finish a week earlier than the Championship..?

I just wanted to be at home first so got to be happy really. Looking forward to Bury away already.
