The post-match reaction from today's 0-0 away draw at Aldershot from Rovers Manager Gary Brabin and midfielder Jay Harris courtesy of Tranmere Rovers Official on You Tube.............
Following this afternoon's 0-0 draw for Rovers away at Aldershot Town, Manager Gary Brabin was both pleased with the result but disappointed with some aspects of the game as Rovers stretched their unbeaten run to five League matches and remained in fourth place in the National League.
Gary Brabin told the Media after the game.....
"It was a scrappy game. I think a draw was the fair result. We have to take the positives from the game, it's another clean sheet away from home and a point so it's not a disaster but I don't think we deserved much more."
"The first half was possibly the tattiest performance we've put in this season. We were loose with our control and passing, the simple things we've been doing well. In the second half, I thought we got a little bit better and as the game went on we looked stronger, got crosses in the box and caused them a few problems."
"To come away from home and keep a clean sheet is positive. We're disappointed with certain aspects of our game, but we've drawn and lost games where we've played well, whereas today, we were a bit loose and we need to sharpen up on that."
Midfielder Jay Harris, who was forced to play without regular central midfield partner Stevn Jennings due to the latters' suspension also speak to the Media and added to his Manager's comments by saying.....
"It wasn't a great performance, especially off the back of four straight wins, but coming away from home to a place like this with a clean sheet is not a bad thing. You keep picking up points along the way which will keep us in the play-offs. As long as we don't get beat, it's not a worrying sign so we'll take the positives."
"We'll work on the things we didn't do well today, work hard through the week and go into next week's game against Cheltenham and hopefully get a result. It wasn't a pretty game to watch but at the end of the day, I think both teams will be happy with a point."

I don't know why the post match videos are depicted by by a shirt and tie, as Brabin doesn't wear such clothing for any interviews he does.
There should be a little shell suit logo instead

Overall summary from myself...
The addition of Higdon completely unsettled our team. We carried on hitting the balls we're used to playing up to Norwood, forgetting he wasn't in the same place. It'll take a bit of time to get used to playing with him, but I feel it'll come good.
They never tested us at all really, even though they had the freedom of the right wing due to Ridehalgh opting to run away with his back to the attacker.....bizarre form of defending.

As mentioned elsewhere Ridehalgh suffered from having Norwood in front of it him and not getting the same support as usual defensively.
The abuse he got during the game near to me was an absolute disgrace - the people I was with were disgusted at the names he was being called.

Where abouts were you Sub? I was at the front of the away terrace and didn't hear anything nasty directed at him, just moans/groans and the occasional shout of "stand him up"
I've acknowledged the lack of support from Norwood in another thread, but as a defender myself, I hate seeing some one backing off facing the wrong way. That just allows the attacker on the ball to continue to run into your box, then you can't put a foot in for fear of conceding a penalty.

I wasn't at the match myself but heard how slippy the pitch was. Could it be that he was protecting himself from being turned and beaten for pace?

From the manager's point of view sometimes damned if you do and damned if you don't. I agree that we are not scoring many goals but provided we keep winning games, it does'nt matter. We are now at the critical point in the season and I don't believe this is the time to start tinkering with the formation, particularly as we were on a five game winning run. For me, the time to introduce Higdon would be if we had a 2 or 3 goal cushion in a game, or were losing. The risk is that it may take several games for Higdon to gel with the team and we run the risk of losing points in the process.

That's where I think there may of been some confusion at times on Saturday. We're used to playing it up in front of Norwood & he can run onto it. There were quite a few balls Saturday that went up top and Higdon had no chance of chasing them. He need the ball played into his feet.
