Heart says we can win.
Head says if they don't score we will win.
If they do score it will be a draw.
If they score more than one we will lose.

Just the 1 goal for us moon, can't imagine why you think that, what with our free scoring open play we've shown so far

I was hoping for Rhead to start as I don't rate him, but looks like their going for pace upfront as they see this as our Achilles heel.
Should be a good game for both sets of fans and the neutrals. Would have been a good one for BT Sport.
I was interested in the quote from Phil65 on Matt Rhead. At first glance, many wouldn't rate him. He's not exactly fast and can't turn on a sixpence but what you can't deny is that he knows where the goal is. When he's not scoring, his work in the build up to any chances is also quality. He has the strength to shield the ball and can play with his back to goal. When you have accomplished finishers in your side like Marriot and, to some degree Arnold, it can pose a real threat for the opposition. Bump into Rhead in a pub and ask him what he does for a living and you probably wouldn't believe him if he said Professional Footballer, in much the same way that someone might not believe your McNulty!
Rhead has actually scored 6 in 5 this season as he hasn't played in all the games through injury. He got 20+ last season and as of 2 days ago, was the bookies favourite to finish as National League top scorer at 4/1 odds.
He may be a doubt for Saturday due to the position of a head wound which required stitches last weekend.... Or maybe he will start, who knows! He'll be good company for McNulty and keep him occupied or, we might just stick on a few more pacy attackers and try to run a few (rather large) rings around him. Either way, it'll be a good game and there are more decent players on both teams aside from Rhead and McNulty.
As well as Rhead and Marriot, we also have Bonne on loan from Colchester. At 20 years of age, he has amassed a number of league 1 appearances and goals. He can play as an out and out striker or as a ball-to-feet target man.
Anyway, hopefully we'll have a good game and I hope we're both at the right end of the table come the end of the season. It would be good to see two proper football league clubs getting promotion at the expense of the likes of 'plastic' Forest Green' and their artificial 'silver spoon' club.
I agree that Rhead is a terrific player at this level.

Rhead a good player but Goodison
will have him in his pocket. Oh sh*t time lapse
.I'm sensing a 2-1 loss.

Give me Norwood any day (different role now I know!). I would echo "at this level" as this is Rheads level; he's a non-league striker hence my rating of him (or lack of). Norwood should be playing at a higher level. Would rather be facing Rhead than pacier players. Having said that Rhead is highly entertaining; the bigger they are the harder they fall (and easier). He's not as popular with all Lincoln fans who do see him for what he is. Sorry but I have trouble accepting Rhead as a terrific player whatever the level. If we were offered Rhead on a free at Tranmere I wouldn't want him; happy to keep Cook in this role. Of course this is mostly my opinion with a little input from family who follow Lincoln. That's it, Rhead will play tomorrow and score the winning goal to make me eat my words!! Time to take cover from all the Rhead groupies!!

I watched lincoln in their televised game at torquay last weekend..they looked pretty decent as an attacking force especially down the left.. ex grimsby player, nathan arnold was the lincoln player that stood out for me.
And to be honest, that was one of our poor performances in terms of the way we played. Granted, we grabbed a late late winner but Torquay could have quite easily have done the same.
As an Imps fan, I hope we get the three points but I won't be too disheartened if we leave with nothing. We're both good teams this season and I'm hopeful that this will be a good game of football, the perfect advert for National League football and that we'll both be at the right end of the table come the end of the season as clubs with a proper football league infrastructure and history.
Are we in danger of talking teams up? Lincoln are sound but any team with promotion ambitions would expect to win at home. Our perspective may reflect 3 seasons of indifferent home form which is hopefully a thing of the past

No Rhead 'groupies' here.... Although he is the current 4/1 favourite to end the season as National League top scorer.
Granted, if you bumped into him in a pub and asked him what he did for a living, you would probably not believe him when he replied "professional footballer".
He's definately not the 'chasing through balls' type but he has a nice touch, an eye for a pass, strength, an ability to hold the ball up and he knows how to find the net (over 20 last season). He has 6 goals from the 5 games he's played in this season so far.
The assertion that he has found his level in the National League is relative. It depends what you are looking for in a striker. If you're a league 2 side with small pacy strikers and you're looking for a target man, you'd be silly to overlook Rhead.
Let's remember, Lincoln also have Marriot, a forward with skill, pace and brilliant finishing who plays off Rhead very well. Bonne on loan from Colchester who is a young striker with appearances and goals at League 1 level who can also operate as a 'ball to feet' target man. We also have Simmons, a product of our youth team who is highly rated, can also operate on the wing and scored 6 goals in a reserve fixture in midweek (our reserves won 15-0). And of course there's Arnold who is predominantly a winger but generally scores about 10 a season and can operate up front. We're no longer an 'eggs in one basket' side which has been our downfall in recent years.
I know Tranmere have plenty of options too and it's set up to be a good game today. I hope it lives up to its billing, regardless of the result.
Enjoy the game folks!

No players in this league have all attributes that you would like in a player, if they did they would be playing at a higher level, and depending on those sttributes that could be league 2 to championship level

Depressingly it feels like last season and the evidence of progress is looking increasingly questionable. The temptation is to argue that we have a good side that is I effectively managed but I am not sure that is so.Even the year we were relegated there were claims that the side was better that our closest rivals.
The next few weeks will be a test for Brabin. If the slide is halted we will still be in touch but if not I suspect that MP patience will not extend too long
Quote:Agreed. Certainly at home the late late penalty v Barrow and the last minute winner v Eastleigh just papered over the cracks. The goalkeeper came closest to scoring today.aktrfc
Sorry but that was v poor. Not one of them looked like they could play football. Signs have been there for a few games. No better than last year

Mr Brabin's tactics are baffling Surely Mr Palios can see the problem !
Appears the football is largely irrelevant so long as money is rolling in.
As I said weeks back, fullback(s) not good enough, no endeavour going forwards, except when Stephenson came on, lack of goal threat, poor tactics and it all shows in the fact we have only beaten teams who will be in a relegation battle, having played 6 teams in the bottom 1/3 and we haven't even beat them all, and it's all down to the tactics. I note the media speak from Brabin has gone from "We're here for promotion to were in a better place to challange for promotion". Says it all, the mans a bottler.
That's it for me now, not putting another penny through those turnstiles whilst the one who's name shan't be mentioned is there.

Today's game was a mirror image of the problems we all saw last season, I'm sure MP can see it but am also sure he won't have the courage to make a managerial change just yet.
That's five now .. At a higher level
Do we think it's worth a recall ?

I can't comment on the match, but it's a results business. The results need to start coming.
Why won't you comment on the game, you were quick to comment with regards to a few of us being stupid an half of us looking stupid last week because we raised concerns.
Are we in danger of talking teams up? Lincoln are sound but any team with promotion ambitions would expect to win at home. Our perspective may reflect 3 seasons of indifferent home form which is hopefully a thing of the past

" Rhead was a flop at league level" I shall take your word for that, what is a fact he is not a flop and this level.
Not only is he a prolific goal scorer but he also creates a multitude of opportunities with little headed flicks and lay offs for his team mates. I would have him at Tranmere tomorrow.
The one thing I don't like about his game is his propensity to feign injury, made even more irritating by his stature. As regards our prospects of promotion we have no chance as long as Mr Brabin is in charge.
I take no pleasure in saying this, just the opposite in fact, but a sad reality I fear.
What is the use of creating good openings and trying to pass the ball into the net 3 first half 1 second half. Darren Stephenson did enough, again IMO, to be included from the start even if our formation has to change to accommodate him.
I have been a strong supporter of GB in the past but, my support is wearing very thin at the moment. They say a team reflects their manager unfortunately, GB does not exude confidence, is indecisive found tactically wanting and seems incapable of getting the best out of probably the best man for man squad in this league on a regular basis.
Having said all that I honestly cant think of anyone to suggest as a replacement?

I'm getting @#$%& off with your attitude on here. If you can find the exact post where I called you or anyone else stupid then I would be much obliged. The quote your referring to was from a Facebook post that deadly quoted FROM SOMEBODY ELSE!!!! I merly said I agreed with SOME of it.
The reason I cannot comment on today is because I wasn't there, I only attend about 8 games a season, sorry if that makes me less of a fan then you.
Perspective has now been applied and our start is now in its place - which is a 'par' performance.
Nobody is on here offering any defence to the manager because there isn't one.
The system we are playing, the players selected and the style of play are all wrong. If we were getting results against ALL types of teams, I would shut up.
However, we have run into half decent teams and hit a brick wall so Brabin either has to sort things out or be replaced.
but how...
just listened to GB and he is at it again... 2 stone wall penalties etc. etc. but there was no creativity and as other have said Davis had our best chance...
Norwood was terrible today....so why on earth take Cook off...
Kirby did nothing in 45 minutes... but then he never saw the ball so either he is hiding from the ball/ not up to it/ etc etc. or the team is not capable of changing tactics after 45 minutes....
Kirby BTW in my opinion was excellent pre - season and I expected him to be a major force but he was ignored at the start of the season and is definitely not a target man for pumped up long balls.
By the end, I and those around me were at our wits end and gallows humour was the order of the day.... I do so hope MP was indeed watching and does not allow this to fester for too long if performances do not improve (yes performances not wins- we can all accept an unlucky defeat when we have played well but we haven't been doing that for many games now)....
Lincoln looked the better side and fully deserved winners in my opinion.

Point taken and apologies for offence caused. Should have let the topic go and to single you out was wrong. I for one don't beleave that attending less games makes you any less a fan, far from it. I only react when people do suggest that others are less of a fan because of what they think or how they show it. My only beef is with the team as a whole at this time and how they are playing.

Sorry 8530KG but I have ALWAYS given a fair assessment of what I see , warts and all . I don't view things through Rose tinted glasses , nor am I particularly ascerbic in my comments . I have never slagged GB off and I don't look forward to when we lose . I try and post constructive criticism when I think it warrents and praise when it warrents . If you view things differently , that is your prerogative .
So in the 'couple of others'? I refer to those who only appear in full pelt when we lose.
On this topic, it does seem that the team has lost its way. Maybe it hasn't and was just lucky for first 7 games?
In any event there is an issue it seems. Inability to hit the back of the net in any amount that puts games to bed.
Do you think it is because of the old "square peg, round hole" situations?

I had full match commetary on bbc radio lincolnshire but for some unknown reason it cut out for the last few mins and went to commentary of the boston utd game so I quickly changed over and got the last few moments on wirral radio. Wirral radio always have live commentary for the final 5 mins no matter where u are in the world. As soon as I tuned into wirral, scott davies had his chance. Seemed like our only real chance in the game. Was quite impressed with the lincoln commentary duo. They appear to understand the conf well.
It was a game of few chances, however defo should of had at least 1 pen. And Steve Jenno had a couple were he should of hit it rather than panic, Davies header was the closest we got though yes. Then again Lincoln came with a decent plan and they have some decent attacking players and they seemed better prepared for battle than us. Crowd didn't help though, only chanter on us the whole 90 mins was "Steeevvveeee" which sounds more like booooooo somehow
