Only on Sunday, Total Tranmere reported from a very reliable source that Taylor’s move to Everton was as good as done and could happen sometime this week.  Added to the comments made by Norwich City Manager Nigel Worthington over a month ago in which he stated that Norwich would be unable to sign Taylor because he had already agreed to sign for Everton, it suddenly seemed very likely that he would be leaving Prenton Park in the near future.

Today however, the Liverpool Echo is reporting that a “very attractive” second offer from Everton has again been snubbed by the Tranmere Board who it seems value Taylor at around £1million.  It is thought that Everton Manager is not willing to pay that kind of money for Taylor at this stage and the saga seems set to rumble on unless an agreement can be reached.

The Echo reports that Moyes seems to be in no hurry to up his offer for Taylor as yet having yesterday unveiled three new signings in Simon Davies, Per Koldrup and John Ruddy who have cost the Blues more than £10million.  There is also currently a delay over the permanent signing of on-loan star Mikael Arteta due to a dispute over the players wage demands.

Defender Steve Watson left Everton for West Brom this week giving a further hint that Everton may be looking for another defender and that Taylor may be the man. 

So will Taylor be going or staying?  Reliable sources suggest that he is going to sign for Everton but it would now appear that Taylor will not be given up for what the Board see as peanuts and the Board look prepared to further test David Moyes and the Everton board as to how badly they want Taylor.

If Everton have bigger fish to fry then they may well give up on Taylor for the time being.  Watch this space for further news!
