Loanee Bruce Returns to St. Andrews

Birmingham City have confirmed today that their defender Alex Bruce has returned to St Andrews with immediate effect, a move that brings his loan spell at Tranmere to a premature end. The deal had initially allowed Bruce to be at Prenton Park until January of next year but it’s now ended early.

After not even being included in Rovers’ 16-man squad for the last two games, the rumours have been doing the rounds amongst fans that Alex Bruce’s loan spell at Prenton Park was overand today that scenario was confirmed by Birmingham City via the Club’s Official Website.
The 21-year old son of Blues Manager Steve Bruce joined Rovers back in August and immediately became a first team regular at the expense of Paul Linwood who had previously played in Ryan Taylor’s former position of right-back. Linwood was soon after shipped out to Wrexham on loan but his early return in time for last weeks LDV Vans Trophy game coupled with Bruce’s absence from the squad set tongues wagging on the Wirral.
The Birmingham City Official Website has stated that the decision for Bruce to return to the Midlands was made by both Clubs and the player himself. Unfortunately, Bruce’s spell with Rovers has coincided with a bad start to the season but that is no reflection on Bruce and Total Tranmere would like to thank Alex for his spell with Rovers.
The question amongst fans now will be whether Brian Little will try to find a permanent replacement for Ryan Taylor at right-back when the transfer window opens in January. It is clear to most fans that Taylor’s attacking influence is greatly missed.
