DOES THE TABLE LIE?

Its written in stone across the world of football, and passed down through the ages "The league table doesn’t lie". This season I ask the question, has the table lied?

Manchester United have been crowned champions with 90 points. Liverpool in second place have 86 points, but have only lost 2 games to Uniteds 4.  We have scored the most goals; have a better goal diff of 50, compared to Uniteds 44.  On the two head to head meetings we've beaten them convincingly on both occasions. I could also point to the old format of two points for a win, which would have crowned Liverpool champions.

On the other hand United have not drawn as many games, its here were they gathered the extra points to pass the winning line first.

There is also the matter of dignity in defeat, no matter how harsh or cruel it can sometimes appear to be. Its always rankled with us in the past when other people simply would not bestow upon us the credit we were due for winning titles and European Cups.

So now, in my opinion, to make the argument above smacks of hypocrisy on our part. Manchester United have won the league fair and square. Over the 38 games they have amassed the most points, they are deserved champions.

Now for next season bring it on.

Finally found something worth reading on the internet. You have an argument give valid reasons for it and also come to the right conclusion. Bring on next season

giving credit where it's due.

FACT - Liverpool drew more than they could afford too

FACT- Man utd took advatage from that

FACT - Despite Liverpool's unbeaten record against the top it is once again your inability to deal with the grit of those below you that have cost you

FACT -THE TABLE DOES NOT LIE!!!

Liverpool this season put themselves on the premier leagues list for champions next season, but if you continue to faulter against lower league clubs then i'm sorry but you will never again bring home england's most prestigious trophy.........FACT!!!!

It was the draws that killed Liverpool's challenge. As I have posted before, where Liverpool draw United seem to grind out a win or turn a seemingly probable loss into a draw. That's the difference because "first XI" wise there really is not much of a gap between Liverpool, United and Chelsea.

well that's nice, a post on a liverpool forum admitting we won fair and square. We have won titles before having lost more games. We've lost titles before having lost fewer games. Its all irrelevant at the end of the day. More impressive is you take away the head to head and our goal diff is better or same. the points difference is much larger. the loss count is the same. So it just shows getting the better of us this season was still not enough to make up for shortcomings elsewhere. Next year, we start again. Lets see what happens.
