Second Chance For Moores?

When David Moores, Liverpools owner, in a dramatic eleventh hour u turn sold LFC to two American business men, he pleaded in the Liverpool Echo, with the banner headline "TRUST ME". The selling of the club was the climax of a three year search to find the right owners who would respect the values and history of the club.

The search had been completed to all intents and purposes with the Emirates DIC.  Everyone had waxed lyrical of them being the right people with the right financial clout to move the club forward with a new stadium. The dramatic switch to the Americans shocked everyone, hense the "TRUST ME" headlines. It was the worst decision of Moores life, call it stupidity or greed, Moores is now a broken man.

The club was in his hands and he gave it to two carpet bagging parasites who have leveraged the club to frightening levels of debt. Two days ago Moores announced his resignation from the board.

Anyone can make a mistake in life, it is for this reason I find it hard to hate David Moores. What he has now is the chance of redemption. Call me an optimist but I hope and pray the man will now make a public stand against the Americans.

Moores can do much damage to them as they scramble to extend their loans from the banks. Life doesn't always grant you second chances.

Now is the time to salvage his good name and reputation, I for one still trust him to do the right thing.

Yes, anyone can a make a mistake in life and it is forgivable if we/they learn from it. But Moores has made so many he clearly doesn't learn- he was part inheritor of a great business empire and a great football club and has been party to the demise of both.

When has he shown any ability to make a stand on anything other than to pay a large check into his own bank account?

I don't hate him; hate takes energy and I wouldn't waste it on a no-mark loser like Moores. If he is to be our chosen champion then our cause will be lost even before the lightbrigade gets to make a charge

I'm struggling to see what more David Moores could have done to destroy the club. He took over a club which had been winning championships for fun for over 20 years. In his almost 20 years in charge we won ZERO championships. Does this make him a bad man worthy of hatred. No. But it does make him a failure of mammoth proportions.

He also failed to have the vision to develop our commercial revenues. He failed to recognise the importance of developing the stadium until it was too late.

He then made a dismal decision to sell the club to two charletans. He made bad deal and failed to write any terms in the contract to ensure a new stadium was actually built or to stop the club being bled to death financially. He has walked away with his pockets full of cash whilst failing to safeguard the future of our once great club.

Whilst like all Liverpool fans I can't wait to see the back of these two American idiots I can't see David Moores as a white knight. He has been an incompetent leader who has presided over a dismal period in the history of our Club.
