What amazes me is that Capello has been taken in as well. Have w e no one else who can cross the ball weel, as this is all that Becks has been able to offer for the last 10 years?

I assume that is Stunt as in Cupid Stunt, the old Kenny Everitt character?

He don't care does he, the yank supporters were in there rights ta be angry after what he did. he should realise they welcomed him & expected his heart & soul.He is a good player
& if he wanted ta still play for England that won't put him in good light.

I think he deserves credit for being a sharper media operator than people give him credit for. His all round game is at best average so he worked on areas that other players, with a better all round game, simply dont bother with as much i.e setpiece delivery. Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo also showed that the media handily ignore the 9 free kicks you miss to focus on the 1 that goes in thus ensuing media headlines for your "great skills". Unlike Carlos, Becks is photogenic with a 'celebrity' wife which never hurts when it comes to headlines. So instead of someone in the media saying "Becks: he actually isnt that good a player" it has always been "Becks: and his Missus. Walking!"

Beckham is/was/always will be a fantastic player, he is a legend of english football. his celebrity status was born from football, the day he scored "THAT" goal against wimbledon is were it all kicked off

Victoria was certainly involved in his hype, but it was not all her doing, Beckham was an Icon in his own prime, He was voted MVP back in 99 and deserved it fully

He then followed it up with the usual displays of exceptional passing and set-piece delivery

His exit from united is something that still today sickens me, but something I am willing to accept as I do believe he thought he was bigger than the club, but at the same time, I believe he was brain washed into thinking so

Im not gonna go into detail about that because we will be here all day, but what I will say is that he chose to leave Madrid because the very man who is running our national squad today felt it best to leave him out of the team for good, until Beckham proved his worth by helping Madrid win the league that year, Capello decided to try and do a 180 but becks was avin none of it and I dont blame him, Capello chose to disrespect him and although he is a media puppet, one thing he is not is a mug

Beckham has deserved everything he has been given in his career, LA Galaxy was the ONLY team who bid for him on his decision to leave Madrid, but he knew there was no way he could keep up his england career with them, he joined Milan because he believed he still has something left to give to Englands national team and anyone who doubts that is a fool

You honestly think a guy who is on nearly £500k a week, but wants to come back to Europe/England doesnt really want to play football for his country, doesnt still have that passion, that burning desire to once again reach some of the greatest heights a footballer can acheive?

Ram i said he was a very good player ,not disputing that . Its the circus that surrounds his career now that rubs people up the wrong way . It seemed every game wether for manu or England was just another photo opportunity. He gave the impression that he was bigger than club or country . TBH i couldnt give a monkeys if he plays for England or not .The point of the piece was to highlight another example of his centre of attention media grabbing.

I said he was a good player too, but it's the fans that pay his wages & buy his memrobelia & the galaxy fans prob put there hand in there pockets buy a shirt with his name on, posters & all things like that gets injured & then sods off ta pursue his Engerland career.

Ok, fair play ta him he extended his earnings in other things & is sucsesfull. So leaving them in the lurch was not fair & so they had that right in barracking him.

I believe he should have stayed at galaxy, & gave someing back & if he got the call from Engerland a bonus yes.

For me club is more important than country.

TOKS, would like to take credit but it's our own carras article, and one of the very very few that I tend to disagree with. Brian Reade as well thinks like carra.

I think David Beckham has handled himself and his career supremely professionally. That he married a continual publicity seeking woman has played a big part in his world status I admit but......

For me he has never acted like the big I am whether on the pitch or not. He comes across in interviews as an ordinary guy who's willing to take the piiiss out of himself. I've never read of him not turning up for training or being late or even not giving his all in training or a game. Ok he had a bit of an affair but considering how big a name he is now, we don't read about him at all night parties or even getting involved in punch ups.

All in all, as a professional footballer, I think he's handled himself admirably. As a player I agree with Georgie in many ways, and he's not fit to tie the laces of some of the past biggest names in the game, but a great footballer he was none the less, and one that I wouldn't have minded being a Red, baggage an all.

His latest escapades though, I certainly agree, are stunts.
