NO FANS CAN CLAIM HIGH MORAL GROUND

The so called friendly Mersey Derby at the week-end drove another nail into this fixtures famous title of friendliness. It’s what set this fixture apart from the rest, fans drinking together, sitting together and sharing a drink afterwards. It was the case for generations but alas it’s now a dying tradition.  Scenes of missiles being thrown by Blues fans was embarrassing for all concerned. The contorted, twisted faces of hate, spewing out bile at anything red was comical, and very sad.

This is the face of modern football fans.  Minds full of their own propaganda filled message boards. Fans are too judgmental and run to the high moral ground at every opportunity, its easy one-upmanship, and too easy a chance to feel better than their rivals. 

For every empty headed abusive missile throwing Evertonian on Saturday I can show you hundreds of decent fair minded real Blues. For every Manu fan chanting obnoxious Hillsborough songs, I can show youLiverpool fans singing aboutMunich. These morons have for too long defined what we are.  We all know the vast majority of us are simply not like that.  We have one thing in common, the love of our team and the game of football. 

Let us define what real fans are all about, a friendly pint, a bit of banter and respect for ourselves, not the dictates of the minority of morons.
