Liverpool and Real reach agreement

Today, Liverpool have confirmed that they have agreed a fee with Real Madrid for the transfer of their Spanish striker Fernando Morientes.

Liverpool must now agree personal terms with the striker and arrange a medical to take place before the deal is completed.

Real Madrid have eventually agreed with the deal taking Morientes to Anfield and are planning to hold a press conference to announce the players departure from Real. Morientes has said that he is sad to leave because he had 8 fantastic years at the club.

Liverpool are hoping that the deal can be completed in time for Morientes to get his debut in Liverpool's weekend game against Manchester United on Saturday.
