Keegan had been chasing Foe for some time, but with the World Cup and complications surrounding the loan deal he has only just been able to get his man. Keegan expressed his admiration for Foe on the clubs official web site.

"Marc was a long term target and an absolute key to what we want to do and that is no disrespect to anyone else," explained a delighted City boss. "He is a quality player who has just come back from the World Cup. He is big, strong and a great athlete. He knows English football and was at West Ham where he did very well."

Foe is set to take up the holding midfield role that was occupied by Kevin Horlock last season although Keegan denies that this means Horlock will be left out in the cold. "Marc plays in that holding role but I am not saying he can't play it with another person in other words there could be a chance to play another player with him. So that does not rule out Kevin Horlock or anyone else for that matter who may be fighting for that position."

The deal is reported to have cost City a 1 year loan fee of £555,000, also giving them first option on making the move permanent when the loan finishes.

The Foe signing is likely to signal the end of Keegan’s summer spending spree, a spree that has netted 6 players for an outlay in the region of £24 million. Surely exciting times are ahead.
