Gers Game

Motherwell fan Jamie McCallum has joined The Well Experience team and writes this piece on yesterdays performance against Rangers at Ibrox.

It was a poor start and a poor end to a game Motherwell always looked unlikely to win. They couldn’t have had a worse start when Rangers got a corner inside the first minute and capitalised on some poor defending and goalkeeping with Lorenzo Amorouso with the perfect start for the Ibrox men.


After a shaky start Motherwell seemed to settle down even though they weren’t giving Stefan Klos much to do up in the Rangers goal. The on the 32nd minute Motherwell had there first shot on goal after a free kick was given for a poor challenge on Steven Ferguson just outside the box producing a great save from the Rangers number 1 Klos. That was as close as Motherwell got to scoring in the 1st half. Just before the break Dirk lehamann was subbed due to an injury picked up minutes earlier.


The second half started a lot more positive with some good runs down the wing from pearo but the cross didn’t match the run. Then in the 72nd minute the well defence was broken down again and Stevie Woods was beaten by a Peter Lovenkrands shot. A minute later pearo was subbed by terry and on came our young striker Iain Russell terry was obviously planning to have a go in the last 2o minutes. Then came probably the most controversial moment of the match when partridge was sent off for a challenge on ricksen. Then on the 90h minute came the killer goal from Ronald de Boer after a good spell of pressure by Motherwell. Over all Motherwell did deserve to get beat but as terry butcher said there was a lot of positives that could be taken from the match.
