Aberdeen 1 - 1 Motherwell

A battling performance from Motherwell earned them a point at Pittodrie with no help from the referee who was intent on giving Aberdeen every decision in the second half.

The referee's worst decision allowed Aberdeen to score, Aberdeen grabbed the lead after 29 minutes when Derek Young capitalised on a mix-up between Mackie and Paul Quinn, the two players tangled, allowing Young to break through on goal ( offside ? ) and slotted past Dubourdeau who had an excellent game again.

Motherwell had a few great chances in the first half but they were squandered by Ferguson and McFadden. Ex Motherwell defender Eric Deloumeaux had taken abuse all game from the away support and this got worse after he put a two footed challenge into Scott Leitch on the half way line, when Leitch stood up to confront Eric, the Aberdeen pushed him over. The shocking refereeing continued when Eric was only shown a yellow card, surely both the tackle and the push should have earned a yellow card each.



Motherwell finally got the goal they deserved, William Kinniburgh getting his first goal for the club, a corner whipped in by Stevie Hammell was not properly cleared by Aberdeen keeper David Preece and Kinniburgh pounced from six yards and sent the away fans into wild celebrations.


We are now only three points behind Livingston and two behind Dundee United.
