SPL Poll

Half the Motherwell fans who took part in our weekly poll want to see a return to a 16 team league.

With the league becoming more boring as the years go on fans want to see a change and they want it now. As the current SPL stands only two clubs can win it and if the First Division champions don't fit the SPL criteria then no club will be relegated, it's became stale playing the same clubs week in week out and where's the fun in that ?



The only downside to a 16 team league would be losing the revenue of an Old Firm match and that is seen as the stumbling block as clubs vote against the proposal of a bigger league.



50 % of fans voted for a return to a 16 team league.



32 % voted for an even bigger league of 18 teams which would give clubs extra revenue but are there enough clubs out there good enough to compete in the SPL ?



12 % would like to see a return to a 10 team league.



3 % voted for the current set up of 12 clubs and another 3 % voted for a 14 team SPL.
