Motherwell are keen to offer midfielder Stephen Pearson a new contract in a bid to keep him at Fir Park.

The 20 year old who is being chased by Premiership club Leicester City has only one year left on his current deal at Fir Park and a club spokesman told Teletext " We are going to offer Stephen an extension to his contract as his present deal runs out next year."

The Foxes have been watching the midfielder all season and has impressed manager Mickey Adams who could be ready to pounce, Leicester Director of football Dave Bassett said " Stephen Pearson is a good left-sided player and someone we are looking at. "

" He is one of the players Micky Adams is looking at and we will sit down and discuss the options when he comes back from holiday. Then we will decide which players we want to pursue. "

The player's agent has already made it clear that a move to Leicester City would be a step up stating " Pearson has said he hopes to play at a higher level in the near future. "
