Aberdeen 0 - 3 Motherwell

Motherwell piled more misery on Aberdeen manager Steve Paterson with a fantastic 3 - 0 win at Pittodrie.

Terry Butcher had kept with the same eleven which drew with Rangers in their last outing.






Aberdeen went close after five minutes when a Scott Booth free kick beat Gordon Marshall but just went wide.






Motherwell went ahead through Steven Craig after 10 minutes. The forward latched onto a Hammell cross to lob David Preece from 6 yards. Gordon Marshall produced the form we saw at Tannadice when he saved well from a Paul Sheerin effort.



Celtic target Stephen Pearson doubled Motherwell's lead with 13 minutes left on the clock. The midfielder raced 30 yards with the ball at his feet leaving Russell Anderson and fired it into the far corner of the net giving David Preece no chance. The second goal started a mass exodus from the Pittodrie faithful just as well since they missed the final nail in the Aberdeen coffin. In the final minute Keith Lasley's shot was deflected of Aberdeen midfielder Alexander Diamond and into the net.



The win now puts Terry Butcher's men into 5th place and are now looking good for a top 6 finish come May.






Pittodrie has never been a happy hunting ground for Motherwell, it was our first win at there since 1997 and was our best result there since 1958.
