Dunfermline clinched the First Division Championship this afternoon, while a number of play off places were sorted out.

Dunfermline sealed the Championship and promotion with a 2-0 win over Morton. A goal in each half was enough to clinch, Steven McDougall scoring early in the first and David Graham adding the second just after the break.

They return to the SPL after a four year absence, and I for one am glad to see them back. East End Park is a traditional Scottish ground which on its day can generate a terrific atmosphere.

The Pars are also a decent sized club who should be in the top flight of Scottish football, they will make the other clubs happy as they will bring a decent away support to most grounds, particularly early in the season.

Dundee fans, though, will be banging on about how their team is actually two points clear of Dunfermline if it hadn’t been for the technicality of a 25 point deduction for going into administration.

At the other end of the table it looks as though it will be Cowdenbeath who will be heading into the play offs, despite beating relegated Stirling Albion this afternoon. Ross County maintained their three point lead with a 1-0 win over Falkirk. There is an 11 goal swing required in goal difference if Cowdenbeath are to avoid the play offs – unlikely.

In the second division two of the three promotion play off positions have been settled with Ayr United and Forfar in. The last place will be decided between Brechin and East Fife in the last round of fixtures.

In the Third Division Albion Rovers and Annan have both clinched play off places with the final place now between Queens Park and Stranraer.
