Accies hopes still alive

Hamilton’s 1-0 win in Paisley this afternoon keeps their hopes of staying in the SPL alive.

The Accies have now not lost in three, having beaten Hibs and Saint Mirren either side of a draw at home to Aberdeen, and are now only six points behind the Paisley Saints with three games to go.

Their cause was helped in the first half when the Buddies were reduced to ten men with Jure Travner being shown red for a second yellow challenge on Dougie Imrie.

It looked as though the Accies were going to pay for their lack of adventure as Saints dug in to repel any attacks they could mount. This made Billy Reid decide it was time to make changes and he threw on Elliot and Antoine- Curier.

He was rewarded with 15 minutes left when Antoine-Curier bulleted in a header from a Dougie Imrie cross.

The game was turned on it’s head though when Accies were reduced to 10 men when skipper Alex Neil was sent off for a second bookable offence. Having the goal advantage gave the visitors something to hold on to and they held out for a crucial win.

It wasn’t the kind of day long serving Saint Hugh Murray will remember, he made a club record 459^th appearance before being forced to limp off after only five minutes.

This result sets us up for an interesting last three games at the bottom of the table when it looked only a week or so ago that it was all over.
