Albion Rovers will take on Annan Athletic after a 2-0 win over Queen’s Park this afternoon at Cliftonhill.
The Rovers started the better side with Chaplain seeing a shot deflected wide in the 10th minute, bizarrely it wasn’t a Queens defender it was a bump on the pitch!
The first half didn’t have a lot of goal mouth action with Rovers sitting deep and allowing Queens on to them without letting them trouble their goal. The best the Spiders could come up with was a free kick from Meggat that was easy for Gaston in the home goal.
Rovers started the second half more offensively, and Gemmell came close with a header on 49 minutes. He was the man to open the scoring on 68 minutes, Gaston denied Longworth at one end, and the ball switched to the other end and slid the ball under Strain from 12 yards out.
The home side were causing Queen’s Park problems with Love prominent wide on the flank, and he saw a shot saved by Strain who palmed his shot on to the post.
The Rovers sealed it on 88 minutes when Gemmell shrugged off Little to advance into the box and score from 15 yards out.
They will now take on Annan who drew 0-0 with Alloa this afternoon, the first game will be at Coatbridge on Wednesday and then Sunday at Annan.
In the First Division Brechin beat Cowdenbeath 2-0 to advance with a 4-2 advantage and Ayr United and Forfar drew 3-3 with Ayr progressing 7-4 on aggregate.
