Pardew condemns SPL

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has criticised the standard of the SPL and the role it has played in the development of keeper Fraser Forster.

Forster has been on loan at Celtic Park this season from Newcastle and the Magpies boss has said, "I think he's coming back to a completely different level of football, I'll tell you that now.

"We have watched that division and watched him all year.

"We've been disappointed with the quality of the games, other than the occasional Rangers versus Celtic game, and even some of those have been poor."

Maybe Pardew should have a closer look at the player himself, while Forster can claim to be part of the defence with the best record in the League. At the same time he has looked shaky in a number of games.

He looked particularly poor in the 0-2 defeat to Motherwell, a vital three points dropped which it could be argued cost his team the title.

Also, despite what the English might think there are a number of games in their top flight which aren’t very good, you only have to sit in and watch much of Sky’s Monday Night Football to find that out.

Pardew should also take a look at where his current number 1 keeper, Tim Krul, developed. He spent time on loan at Falkirk in the same SPL and is now good enough to play in the EPL every week, and enough to gain an International call up for Holland.
