Petta to join Hartley at Wasps.

Former Celtic winger Bobby Petta could be in line for a shock return to football thanks to Former Celtic man Paul Hartley.

New Alloa boss has met with 36 year old Petta, who turned out for Celtic yesterday in the Masters, with a view to enticing him to Recreation Park.

Petta left Celtic in 2004 after five years at Celtic Park and in the next five years played for seven different clubs in England and Australia, before retiring in 2009 and returning to live in Glasgow.

He reckons his fitness is good enough for him to play for another two years, at least, in the Third Division, and is keen to get his career started once again.

This smacks of the kind of publicity stunt we get at this time of year, with Hartley trying to impress the fans of his new club, while Petta is probably using it as the chance to let people know he is in the market for a club.

It will be interesting to see if Petta pulls on a Black and Gold shirt of Alloa…..
