Low key deadline day

Despite the millions being spent South of the Border the grand total of next to nothing was spent in Scotland as the transfer window closed.

There was little action on the last day of the Transfer window inScotland, with only a handful of SPL teams making any move in the transfer market. Even those who did were buying in the loan market and no money was spent.

AtCelticParkthe Hoop saw two out the door, with Shaun Maloney heading to Wigan for £1m, and following was Jos Hooiveld going toSouthampton. One player did come in with Moroccan left-back Badr El Kaddouri joining on a six-month loan deal from Dynamo Kiev to cover for the injured Izageurre.

Across the city, Rangers brought no one in, with three heading out, James Beattie was released allowing him the chance to sign for someone on his terms. Youngsters Kyle Hutton and Robert Fleck went out on loan.

They held on to Jelavic despite and alleged £9m bid form a mystery club, allegedlyLiverpool. This is a bit hard to swallow, if Rangers were offered £9m for anyone I am sure they would have snapped the buyers hands off. Or is this just a major PR stunt from Craig Whyte as he looks to hoodwink the Rangers fans.

Over in the capital, Hearts signed midfielder Callum Tapping from Tottenham Hotspur for a nominal fee, not a name to set the pulses racing, given he has already been at Hamilton and Celtic!

Hibernian have not surprisingly released out-of-favour Dutch midfielder Edwin de Graaf while handing a contract to formerBlackpooltrainee Adam Mitter. As with Hearts not a name to get the pulse racing! Again no money changes hand as Mitter was released byBlackpoolat the end of his two year apprenticeship

Up in the Highlands, Inverness brought in 19-year-old Aiden Chippendale on loan fromHuddersfieldTown, until January, and also added Wolves midfielder David Davis to his squad.

Elsewhere there was no real action with everybody accepting what they had will see them through to January, at least.
